《新大学英语视听说教程（第二版）》在内容上有以下特点：1.以多维融合全面落实思政。教材将语言与文化相融合、知识与价值相融合、本土与世界相融合，通过单元内容主题的深度凝练、学习材料的精心选择、语言练习的科学编排、单元项目的完整设计，以润物无声的方式落实课程思政。3.时代性、文化性、多元性主题。在单元结构上，教材每个单元以统一的内容主题为核心，并依据主题筛选和安排TED 演讲及其他教学材料，使它们更好地成为一个服务于统一内容主题的整体，使得学生能够更集中地关注语言交际的实质内容，全面调动他们的认知、情感和学习策略投入。3.“项目式+混合式”融合设计。教材强调项目式学习与混合式学习的整体设计，一方面在单元内容主题的统领下强化了单元项目与单元其他板块之间的联系；另一方面还有效融入了“化整为零”“环环相扣”“各尽所能”“急用先学”等具有本土特色的项目式教学设计策略。4.循序渐进的单元结构。教材在每一个单元首先通过单元导入及教学目标建立了单元视听说材料与阅读材料的关联，将真实意义注入了教学材料的学习全过程；教材通过前置的听、说、阅读等练习，为后置的TED 演讲的学习提供了语言与内容上的准备。
